Rev Mercer Davies was 
born  3.1.1822

He was the son of Rev Richard Davies Of Leicester (1766-1841) and his second wife Elizabeth Mercer , daughter of John Mercer

He married:

First

Frances Hunter (1821-10.1853) daughter of Job Hunter.
She lived at 16 Compton Terrace , London-location close to the current Union Chapel.
At the time Mercer was living at 6 Providence Row Hackney

Issue:

Richard Hunter Davies (1851-1878),
Who married Elizabeth Jane Trumble ( d. 1918)-no issue.

Richard had an illegitimate son Timothy Hunter Davies, with Mrs de Metz-  Her husband had been 'put away' for forgery.
Timothy was brought up with his half brother-Howard de Metz.


And:

Arthur Mercer Davies (1852-1959)

And

Frances Davies born 10.1853 and died aged 2 days of Cholera.

Frances died within three days of Cholera at the family home in Westminster - during the of London epidemic of that latter part of 1853.

Mercer wrote a petition the Archbishop of Canterbury asking for the Church to recognise concubines.

Mercer died  21.11.1907 in Camberwell.

Buried in Brompton Cemetary.


Rev Mercer Davies, Arthur Mercer Davies, Carolina, Caroline and Frances are buried in Brompton cemetery.-BLOCK AJ-central behind chapel at far south end.
